I, like many, consider him to be the best artist in all of the U.S. and he is absolutely amazing. I had a number of tress that I wanted him to work on while he was here, but one tree that I have had for along time was my first choice. As you have seen on my site since 2002 is a Bujin styled Pond Cypress. It has been displayed at Epcot and at two state BSF conventions.

This tree had been in my collection for so long and had been styled the same way year after year.  It really needed a make over. I asked Suthin if he saw any changes that could be made and he didn’t disappoint.

We had 10 people show up for the event and he worked his magic on all of their trees, one right after the other. Nearly impossible to get him to take a 5 minute break.

I placed the tree outside my screen patio to get additional sunlight to get the leaves to fill in.

However with that issue taken care of, The Bonsai Societies of Florida Convention starts Thursday and I am to display two trees there.  The problem again are the leaves.  In this case, there aren’t really any to speak of.

I hope this peek of Spring helps many of you to get inspired to start working on your trees.  This is certainly one of my favorite times of the year.

Finally a decent picture of this tree. I have been trying for the longest time to get a branch to cover the scar on the upper top of the trunk. As you can see I pulled one from the top over to the left side and it hides it quite well. Sept. 2005

I am sad to report that this tree slowly died in July. I have noticed a lot in nature this year that a lot of bald cypresses were dying as well. Perhaps the hurricanes from the 2 previous years did some damage that the trees just could not recover from. However this was one of my favorites and I am very sad to lose it. July 2006

Well a couple of things happed here. The tree was removed from the pot and then some large roots were removed. By doing this I was able to move the tree to the right in the pot and center it better. I also did some pruning and wiring of new branches. This tree is finally how I want it to be, and will be looking great this year. January 2005

Here is the Pond Cypress after a few months of growing. It is really developing very well and putting out branches everywhere that is is supposed to. Won’t be long until this tree is something very special. May 2004
